Italy

We spent a week on holiday in Italy, largely based in Emilia-Romagna, and tagged on a couple of days in Milan. It’s impossible to go through all of the delicious meals we ate but some highlights were:

  • Sweet, pumpkin-filled cappellacci di zucca at Cusina e Butega in Ferrara
  • Amazingly complex flavours during a DOP balsamic vinegar tasting at the family-run Acetaia di Giorgio in Modena
  • Savoury tortellini in brodo at the Osteria del Cappello in Bologna
  • Salted pistachio gelato at the Cremeria Santo Stefano in Bologna
  • Eating huge plates of cured meat outside the Salumeria Simoni in the old market in Bologna
  • Drinking Lambrusco at the Osteria del Sole in Bologna
  • Massive, rustic and delicious risotto alla milanese con ossobuco at RatanĂ  in Milan

We sadly ran out of time to visit everything we wanted to; we’ll just have to go back again (once we lose our post-holiday weight…)
