August is a great time for me to catch up on getting through my wishlist of restaurants I have not been to, because a) reservations seem easier to come by, and b) my work is a bit quieter at this time of year. The idea behind the Cornish Project at the Newman Arms is to showcase well-sourced and ultra-fresh ingredients, fresh from Cornwall. In short, the food was delicious and I don’t know if it was my imagination given what I know about the ethos of the place, but I was very impressed with the freshness of the fish I was served. The menu and wine list are both short and interesting and the bill was suprisingly reasonable. My friend thought the food was a touch over-seasoned but overall, we really enjoyed our meal.
