Since my family were visiting from out of town, I decided they needed to visit Maltby Street and the various breweries in the area. We didn’t have time for Partizan, and instead started at Kernel where we had some oak aged table beer and a straightforward IPA to start. Next was Brew by Numbers and we tried a few different beers including a Saison with Motueka & Lime (01/06), the IPA Mosaic (05/08), a Witbier (07/01) and even a black IPA (15/01), which was surprisingly light and had just a hint of charcoal. Overall the IPA Mosaic was voted our favourite, and we ended up sharing a table with some amusing CAMRA guys who were showing a bemused Japanese visitor the various breweries along the Bermondsey beer mile…
Next was Anspach & Hobday and the Bullfinch Brewery, where we shared two paddles between three and finally we made it to The Bottle Shop. I made my family try The Green Bullet and they agreed it was something very special…at 10.1% ABV my head also thought it was very special and I needed a post-drinking nap….!
